On a more personal
note...
I was born in
1950, and grew up in Flint, Michigan. I
graduated from Flint Northern High School in 1968. I was the
Drum Major of the Viking Marching band my senior year.
I attended Michigan
State University from 1968-1970.
I
met Debra Reburn in 1969, and we were married in 1972.
We attended Bethany United Presbyterian Church, where I
co-taught a 5th and 6th grade Sunday school class, and served
as an ordained ruling elder.
Even though I faithfully
attended church for many years, I didn't have a
personal relationship with Jesus. Actually, I didn't know I
could have one.
I gave my heart to the
Lord on Friday, July 27, 1973, at Hope United Methodist Church
in Flint, after viewing the film, The
Rapture. Debbi recommitted her life to Jesus that
night.
We began attending Calvary
United Methodist Church, a church that was very much
involved in the charismatic movement. Sunday evenings we
could be found in the church basement at "Life in the Spirit,"
where we sang praise and worship choruses, and experienced the
presence of God in powerful ways.
We got involved with the
youth ministry at Calvary, and helped out on Sunday
afternoons with worship services at a nursing
home.
I
worked for Sears, Roebuck, and Co. from 1970-1975.
I started on the loading dock, and then moved to the Display
Department. I entered the management training program,
and received a promotion to Assistant Display Manager and
was transferred to the Frandor store in East
Lansing.
I resigned from my job
with Sears in 1975, and Debbi and I moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma,
where I attended RHEMA Bible
Training Center.
Through the years, we have
sought to follow the Lord wherever He has led us to
go, and to do whatever He has called us to do. Although
there have been many tests and trials along the way, we have
seen the faithfulness of God. We have also seen hundreds
lives transformed through His awesome love and amazing
grace!
Debbi and I have
been married 36 years. We have four children (three boys and a
girl), and five granddaughters. We presently
live in Rentz,
Georgia.

How shall I introduce
myself?
Hmmmm...how about
this?
A pastor who was
doing research for a college course paper asked me to
contribute some of my thoughts about leadership. Here are his
questions and my
responses.
Q.
How long have you served in a leadership
role?
I am presently heading
Randall Gearhart Ministries and RCG Media
after serving 13 years as the Director of Ministries of
Life of Faith Fellowship (now known as Cross Current
Church) in Kimball, Michigan. I have served as
a member of the Board of Trustees and Treasurer of
Operation Transformation,
and was a founding member and Vice-President of
the Board of Directors of Landmark Academy, a Michigan Charter school.
Q. What other
leadership roles have you
held?
I was Youth Minister
(Jr. and Sr. High) at Sheridan Assembly Christian Center in
Tulsa, Oklahoma from 1975-1976.
I graduated from
RHEMA
Bible Training
Center, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, in 1976.
I served as
Vice-President and President of the RHEMA Alumni
Association.
I was President of Faith Ministries, Inc.,
in Tifton, Georgia, from 1977-1978.
I was an instructor
at RHEMA from 1978-1981. Some of the courses I taught were,
New Creation Realities, New Testament Survey, The Epistles of
Paul, Understanding Suffering, Colossians, 1 and 2 Peter, The
Teacher, Youth Ministry, Missions, and Evangelism.
I
was founder and pastor of Dublin Christian Fellowship in
Dublin, Georgia, (now World Harvest Church) from
1981-1988.
I served as Chairman of the Georgia
Fellowship of Churches and Ministers.
Q. What are the
greatest lessons you have learned through your leadership
experience?
You're not going
to please everybody--so don't try.
You can't lead people
where they don't want to go.
Leadership is often a lonely
place.
Q. What three
things would you advise every developing leader to do as a
foundation for future
success?
1. Have a strong personal
relationship and on-going fellowship with
God.
2. Work with or under a proven
successful leader for a time
3. Read the
writings and study the lives of successful
leaders
Q. What are the
three most important qualities a leader should
possess?
1. Faith in
God
2. Confidence in who God has created
and called you to
be.
3. An ability to understand, relate
to, and communicate with
people.
Q. Who do you most admire as a leader?
Why?
It's got to be
J.C.!
Jesus Christ is
the perfect leader, and the
role model for leaders--no one else comes close. His life
and ministry are a continual source of instruction and
encouragement for me.
